2010 Homecoming

They have been friends since they were small,
They played in the dirt, and wrote on the wall.
We took them places and them be
And with smile tonight he said to me
please let my curfew be three......
Jesse and some good life long friends went to there senior homecoming tonight
I pray that they have fun, are safe, and make memories that will last a life time.

It is official, I have two teenagers

13 years ago today at 2:03am my youngest son was born. He has brought so much joy to my life and continues to amaze me everyday. He enjoys playing football and hanging out with his friends, but he loves fishing. I am blessed to have such a wonderful person as a son.

Today the junior class becomes the senior class of 2011. Jesse and a couple friends did not think the senior logo shirts were cool enough to wear to school, so they made their own and shorts to match. I cannot believe I have a SENIOR!!!

First Flag Football Game!!!

Madison Track

Matthew has been participating in track and field at Madison Middle School this spring. He has been having a lot of fun. The middle school program as a whole in Albuquerque is a little more laid back than Matthew is used to, but I think it is good for him to learn to relax and go with the flow. Matthew still will participate is club track this summer and that will give him a more organized and competitive way to participate in track.

What I did Today

What did I do today?
I woke early on a Saturday to make breakfast for Jesse, who going to be taking the ACT test at 8:00am. I felt happy, excited, and a little sad that we were at this mile stone today. I know that Jesse is growing up he talks to us on daily biases about how it will be to live on his own, who he is going to live with, how much it will cost, where it will be, where he wants to go to school and what he want to be. We haven’t even left him at home alone over night yet.
We had Matthew’s first flag football game today, and we lost, on the way home Matthew who had been one of the boys playing quarter back (and had been excited to do so before the start of the game) decided it wasn’t for him, he said “it is too much pressure” It made me think of the saying you do not really know until you walk in someone else’s shoes how it feels to be them.
We decided to go to church tonight because we are going fishing in the morning; we almost didn’t go but decided to last minute. It was one of the most touching sermons I ever heard. The pastor was talking about the death of his father and how his loss affected him. He said that his dad was his hero and that his father had led him to be the person he is today. Two days ago Matthew had to write about his hero in English at school, he brought home the rough draft for me to help him type and it was about Mark and how he was leading him to be the person he is today, and that he was his hero.
After church I planted flowers, Mark and Matt went to get some flies so we can catch the big one tomorrow, Jesse went to the movies with friends. We all did something different, but we are all still a family, no matter what no matter where, we are still a family.
I feel that in life we spend entirely too much time thinking about what we could change, what will happen, what will change that is out of our control. My kids are growing up; they are both becoming wonderful young men. We will get through each day and each challenge as it comes.
Today I have found piece in knowing that my life, the life of my sons and husband will be what is.
